What happens after the Afrikadag?

The Afrikadag is not solely a yearly returning event about Africa. Much effort is put in by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS) after an Afrikadag to build upon the valuable conversations of the day..

After the Afrikadag 2018, FEPS and FMS have rolled out a research to understand what drives African migrants to take the leap and head for Europe. We have spoken to people from Ghana and Tunisia, but also Dutch diaspora organizations have contributed immensely to the project.

In light of the Afrikadag 2019 them FMS and FEPS have sought to raise awareness about the lack of ‘climate justice’. European policies do not take into account that African countries are hit hardest by the effects of climate change. This publication serves as a call for action!

The European think tank FEPS has also done research on future forms of cooperation between the African Union (AU) and European Union (EU). In 2020 the brand new strategy for Africa was developed by the EU, after which the AU-EU Brussel summit was planned. Against this background FEPS presented a series of publications in cooperation with French and Italian think tank.
