Afrikadag 2025: A New Global Order
The balance of global power is shifting. The age of a single or dominant power calling the shots is no longer the status quo. African countries are stepping into a more assertive role — as economic forces, with young and engaged populations, and as political actors demanding a seat at the table.
Africadag 2025 explores this changing world. What happens when African voices are no longer sidelined but help shape global systems? What does fair cooperation look like in this new reality?
Traditional multilateral structures are under pressure, from the UN and World Bank to the way development aid has long been organized. At the same time, Africa is pushing back against being cast merely as a recipient of aid or a source of raw materials. There’s a growing demand for fair representation, equal partnerships, and real influence.
But the road ahead isn’t smooth. Unequal trade relations, competition over natural resources, and the impact of the climate crisis continue to create deep injustice. The current shifts in power won’t automatically lead to a more just world.
At Africa Day 2025, we ask tough but necessary questions:
- What does just international cooperation look like when African countries are part of shaping the rules?
- What does fair trade mean in the context of global transitions and resource scarcity?
- How do migration and diaspora influence global power dynamics?
- And how do we ensure climate action respects the realities of those most affected?
Africa Day 2025 is a space for dialogue, reflection, and exchange. It brings together politicians, activists, researchers, youth, diaspora, and civil society — from both Africa and Europe — through panels, workshops, film, music, and debate.
